Seine Weltpremiere feierte der Film auf der diesjährigen Berlinale. In den Hauptrollen dieser internationalen deutschen Filmproduktion brillieren die mit der Kult-Serie „Girls“ bekanntgewordene Lena Dunham sowie der gefeierte britische Ausnahmekünstler Stephen Fry („The Dropout“, OSCAR WILDE). TREASURE – FAMILIE IST EIN FREMDES LAND ist eine Reise in die Traumata der zweiten Generation, in die Sprachlosigkeit und gleichzeitig in die unausgesprochene, tiefe Liebe zwischen Vater und Tochter. Ein Film, der die Auswirkungen der Schoa auf die nachfolgenden Generationen der Überlebenden erzählt. at.
Im Anschluss spricht die Regisseurin und Drehbuchautorin Julia von Heinz mit Dr. Kurt Grünberg (Sigmund-Freud-Institut) über den Film, seine Entstehung und die Bedeutung transgenerationaler Traumata mit Laura Cazés (ZWST, Podcasterin, Autorin).
“Treasure – Family is a Foreign Country” tells the story of the tragicomic travels of Shoa survivor Edek Rothwax and his daughter Ruth. The film had its world premiere at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. In the main roles of this international German film production are the brilliant Lena Dunham, known for her work in the cult series “Girls”, and celebrated and exceptional British artist Stephen Fry (“The Dropout”, “Wilde”). “Treasure – Family is a Foreign Country” is a trip into the traumata of the second generation, into speechlessness and the simultaneous unspoken, deep love between father and daughter. A film that tells of the lasting impact of the Holocaust on subsequent generations of survivors.
Following the screening, director and scriptwriter Julia von Heinz and Kurt Grünberg (Sigmund Freud Institute) will talk about the film, how it came about, and the importance of transgenerational trauma with Laura Cazés (ZWST, podcaster, author).
