Aumari, ein junger Geflüchteter aus Eritrea, steht in Israel kurz vor seiner Abschiebung. Eine Verwechslung am Flughafen macht er sich zunutze und wird so über Nacht zum neuen nigerianischen Fußballstar von Maccabi Netanya. Dem Fußballclub soll er den Klassenerhalt sichern – Aumari allerdings verfügt über keinerlei fußballerisches Talent, dafür aber über eine gute Portion Optimismus und ein großes Herz.
Ein Film über Verlust, Hoffnung und Rassismus in der israelischen Gesellschaft, gepaart mit einer feinen romantischen Note.

Aumari, a young refugee from Eritrea, is awaiting deportation from Israel. After a spontaneous escape attempt at the airport, he is mistaken for a Nigerian striker, who is supposed to arrive at the same time. Aumari seizes the opportunity and thus overnight becomes the new Nigerian football star of Maccabi Netanya. He’s supposed to save the football club from relegation – but Aumari has not the slightest skill with a football. Yet he makes up for it with great optimism and an even greater heart.
A film about loss, hope, and racism in Israeli society, coupled with a fine romantic touch.
