Manchmal genügt ein einziges Wort – der rasche Austausch einer Idee oder die Begegnung von Blicken, die wie keine andere Sprache sprechen. Der Akt der Kommunikation und manchmal auch das Fehlen davon ist das, was die vier Filme dieses besonderen Kurzfilmabends verbindet. Eine Komposition aus verschiedenen Welten, Orten, Zeitrahmen und auch Filmstilen: ein Dokumentarfilm über das Zusammenhalten einer jüdischen Familie während der Pandemie, ein Drama über eine Tradition, die am Rande des Bruchs steht, eine emotionale Reise in einer schönen Landschaft, die ein Geheimnis vermittelt, und die humorvollen Erlebnisse von drei Generationen auf kleinstem Raum. Was diese vier Filme gemeinsam haben, ist das Streben nach Begegnung und Dialog – Dinge, die in diesen Tagen so nötig sind.

Sometimes a single word suffices, swiftly swapping an idea, or two gazes meet that speak a language like no other. The act of communicating, and sometimes the lack thereof, is what connects the four films in this special short-film evening. A composition of different worlds, places, timeframes, and film styles: a documentary on how a Jewish family held strong together during the pandemic; a drama about a tradition on the verge of collapse; an emotional trip into beautiful countryside that conveys a secret; and the humorous experience of three generations in the most confined of spaces. These four films share a striving for encounters and dialogs, for the things that are so necessary at this very moment in time.

German premieres. The screening will be followed by a discussion between Ondine Novarese, director of Radiadio, and film lecturer and curator Dr. Nir Ferber.
