Als ihm im G’ttesdienst die Stimme versagt, flüchtet er aus der Synagoge und trifft in einer Bar zufällig auf seine frühere Musiklehrerin Carla. Die temperamentvolle, freigeistige Carla möchte nun ihre Bat-Mizwa nachholen und wirbelt Bens Leben gehörig durcheinander.

After the death of his wife, Ben, a cantor in his mid-40s, has recently gone back to living with his two stubborn mothers. Both are hellbent on interesting him in a woman, therapy, or both. When his voice wavers and fails during the service, he flees the synagogue and heads to a bar where, by chance, he meets his old music teacher Carla. She’s a free spirit, a bundle of energy, and wants to have the bat mitzvah she missed out on – and completely upends Ben’s life.
A warm-hearted comedy on the complexity of faith, on bonds, neuroses, and the promise that things will always turn out differently than you think.
