Mit herrlich bissigem Humor und echter Herzlichkeit erzählt der Film die Geschichte einer Familie auf dem verschlungenen Weg zur Versöhnung. Der gro.zügige, aber starrköpfige Boxtrainer Tamás kommt mit allen gut aus – außer mit seinem eigenen Sohn. Mit ihm hat er nicht mehr gesprochen, seit Iván nach Israel in eine orthodoxe Gemeinde gezogen ist. Als Tamás’ geliebte Frau Zsuzsa unerwartet stirbt, besteht Iván darauf, dass sie in Tamás’ Haus gemeinsam Schiwa sitzen, solange Enkel Ariel dabei ist. Der vermutet den Geist seiner Großmutter noch immer im Haus, und so sind Vater und Sohn dazu gezwungen, sich während der einwöchigen Trauerzeit ihren alten Verletzungen zu stellen.

With marvelously biting wit and genuine warmth, the film tells the story of a family on the rocky path to reconciliation. The generous but stubborn boxing coach Tamás gets on with everyone, other than his own son. He stopped talking to him when Iván moved to an Orthodox community in Israel. When Tamás’ beloved wife Zsuzsa suddenly dies, Iván insists they sit for the Shivah in Tamás’ house as long as grandson Ariel is also there. The latter thinks his grandmother’s ghost is still present in the house, and the father and son are therefore forced during the one-week period of mourning to face up to their old emotional injuries.
