ALEGRÍA

Alegría hat keine tiefe Verbindung zu ihrem Jüdischsein. Als sie erfährt, dass ihre ganze Familie zur Hochzeit ihrer Nichte nach Melilla anreist und auch bei ihr wohnen wird, gerät ihr Leben aus den Fugen. Zum Glück hat sie Dunia, ihre marokkanische Haushälterin und beste Freundin, an ihrer Seite. Mit ihrer Hilfe gelingt es Alegría, die vielen turbulenten Ereignisse und auch das Wiedersehen mit ihrer Tochter, mit der sie seit fünf Jahren kaum Kontakt hat, zu meistern. Ein sensibler und humorvoller Film über Vielfalt, Toleranz und bemerkenswerte Frauen.

Alegría has no strong bond to her Jewishness. When she finds out that her entire family is heading for Melilla to her niece’s wedding and intends to stay at her place, her life gets turned on its head. Luckily, she has Dunia, her Moroccan housekeeper and her best friend, at her side. With her help, Alegría succeeds in handling the many turbulent events and also meeting up again with her daughter, with whom she has had almost no contact for five years.
