Set against the backdrop of the May 1968 riots in Paris, this film follows young Christophe as he tells the story of an extraordinary Jewish-Christian family that lives by its own rules. Four generations come together in the grandparents’ apartment, which once provided shelter during the German occupation. The film weaves together art, philosophy, and family legends to create a lovingly chaotic portrait of a family, alert to social turbulence while also steadfastly preserving its own world.

Based on the childhood memories of writer Christophe Boltanski, the film blends recent history with a sensitive family chronicle.
