Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the 20th century: Together with her son Joseph, Rebeca flees from Poland to Brazil — in search of a better life and in the hope of finding her husband.
Without valid papers, she is at risk of being deported and being separated from her son. In her desperation, she trusts Tzvi, who promises to help her find work. But instead of receiving support, Rebeca finds herself caught in a web of exploitation and violence.
This moving drama tells a story of flight, survival, and the unshakable strength of a mother.
With an introduction by artist Elianna Renner.
Elianna Renner is an artist who works at the intersection of biography, history, and the present. Her work focuses on marginalized and forgotten life stories — especially those of women, outsiders, and persecuted individuals — as well as the question of whose stories are told and whose are not.
In her project “Tracking the Traffic,” she examines the movements of people, data, and stories between migration, (human) trafficking, and digital circulation, and explores the visible and invisible traces that result from these processes.
