In the performance “My Uncle David,” director Svetlana Fourer sets out to explore her family history and the deeply buried traumas of the Shoah. Research in the archives of the Shoah Foundation led her to the story of her uncle David, a concentration camp survivor.

As a walk-through space of remembrance, the performance — featuring performer Yaroslava Gorobey and live music by Matthias Bernhold — connects personal family history with questions of memory, identity, and belonging. It invites the audience to reflect on the consequences of transgenerational trauma and the question of Jewish life in Germany after October 7, 2023.
