Samir, a Palestinian single father, just wants to keep his job at an Israeli supermarket
and protect his family. His fragile stability fractures when he is falsely accused of tearing down hostage flyers in the staff breakroom. Unable to afford losing his livelihood, Samir sets out to discover the truth, only to find himself cornered by suspicion and betrayal.
Directly inspired by writer-director Meyer Levinson-Blount's own supermarket work experience, this Oscar-nominated live-action short bypasses macro-political arguments to refocus the conversation entirely on the human experience. Powered by an exceptional, breakout performance by Omar Sameer, Butcher's Stain serves as a gripping, emotionally precise study of systemic discrimination and the sudden breakdown of cross-cultural trust within a society under acute national crisis.
Afterward, Laura Cazés will speak with director Danel Elpeleg.
