On October 7, 2023, Noga Friedman lost her partner Ido, the father of her three children. Since then, she has turned the camera on herself and documented her first year of mourning — unflinchingly honest, intimate, and far removed from any nationalist narrative.

In this film from Rani Saar and Noga Friedman, we follow Noga on her journey from paralyzing shock to the arduous attempt to rebuild her life. Amid feelings of guilt, anger, and fear about starting a “new chapter,” Noga searches for her own way to express her pain. Drawing, singing, dancing, and puppetry become outlets for her grief, longing, and resistance.

OUT OF ORDER is a powerful portrait of a woman who refuses to become a symbol — and instead insists on the contradictory reality of carrying on with life.

Afterward, Noga Friedman and director Rani Saar will talk with Laura Cazés about the film. Together with Berlin-based Israeli musician Tal Arditi, Noga Friedman will perform a selection of songs.
